Claire Ashby

Chartered Accountant (FCA)

BA (Honours) Economics

Claire qualified as a chartered accountant in 2000 and gained valuable experience conducting audits in the public and private sectors. She also carried out due diligence on behalf of companies making acquisitions and corporate finance decisions.

Having specialised in forensic accountancy for more than a decade, her forensic experience is divided equally between dispute resolution and financial investigations.  She has been involved in a number of high-profile cases, and previously worked at Deloitte and AlixPartners in London.

Claire has prepared expert reports for use in litigation, international arbitration and mediation, over a broad range of industries. Her hearing room experience includes the Tribunal d’Arbitrage du Sport (TAS/CAS Lausanne) and the Supreme Court of Gibraltar. Her case experience covers breach of contract, professional negligence, sale and purchase disputes, valuations and royalty audits.

Financial investigations have taken her across Europe and to South America to conduct operational reviews under the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. She has carried out investigations relating to alleged fraud, bribery, trustee and auditor negligence and has assisted in asset tracing to recover funds for the victims of financial crime.

Other experience includes the calculation and assessment of claims. Claire prepared and negotiated a multi-million-pound insurance claim following an explosion; designed and implemented a compensation calculator relating to the mis-selling of Payment Protection Insurance for a major UK banking group; and assessed compensation claims on behalf of the United Nations Compensation Commission.

Claire is a British citizen and has lived in Switzerland since 2012.
